Nyima, Dawa and Skarma

Be the sun, brilliant and wise.
Let her be the moon, brilliant and clear.
Between the two, life can be interesting.

These lines of a poem were on our wedding invitation.

Family and friends, welcome to my online journal of the Sun, Moon and the Stars. What? Okay, so a little Tibetan here, for the names of the three in our family:

Nyima means Sun. That's me, dad. Nyima also comes from my refuge name, Damchö Nyima, Damchö means Holy Dharma. Holy Dharma Sun!

Dawa means moon. That's for mom.

With discipline and time, may we be brilliant and wise, and brilliant and clear. And . . . interesting.

Sun, (Nyima) Moon (Dawa) and the Stars (Skarma). The story of the stars is this: As we were planning the wedding, our son said to us, "if Dad is the sun, and Mom is the moon, then I am the stars. " So, Nyima, Dawa and Skarma.

Skarma means 1) star, starlight, constellation 2) minute 3) a Tibetan cent

Skarma, our child, is truly the star, our constellation, our little penny, and our every minute.

Using Tibetan names is all meant in good fun and are our real pet names for each other.

Quickly Get to Other Months

This is the home webpage with 10 entries. To get to our sets of photos, here are links that show a whole month at a time. "Previous Posts By Month" is on the right side of each page. It seemed easiest.

Other Things to Know About This Website Blog

If you move your mouse over a picture and click you get a full screen version of each picture which is great for looking at the details, or even printing an excellent 3x5 or 4x6. There's nothing I can do if you have a slow modem, but I can snail mail you a picture cd or even analog, you know those real glossy objects you can put in frames or put your finger prints on.

For privacy I've left out our birth names and some details that you probably already know if you know us. That's the other reason for Nyima, Dawa and Skarma. You can email us at damchonyima at gmail dot com, or at our other email addresses; phone calls and visits are even better!

Right now I am going back and adding our history, so stuff is being added with old dates at the end rather than new. In other words, the date something is posted here is the actual date of the event; often even the time is correct.

Web surfers are also welcome; I hope it inspires you to share your own stories and photos with your family and friends. I hope everyone enjoys spending a few minutes with us.

Peace, D.N.
